Junior Golf
Forest Hills Golf Club encourages Juniors from a young age to take up and enjoy golf – after all it is a ‘sport for life’. That’s why during the Summer holidays you see our older Juniors playing golf with their friends every day! For learners we have a specially marked Blue Course and an Academy class of membership, which ensures they can play in competitions especially for players before they have their first handicap.
First steps if you’re new to golf as a Junior is to join our Junior Golf Academy. The Academy focuses on making learning about golf fun helping juniors develop towards gaining their first handicap. Once our junior players have a handicap, they can join the junior section and play in club competitions – It has not been unusual recently for our Club Champion to be a member of the Junior Section.
Junior golfers also enjoy team games on other courses and against other sections of our club and have won the Junior team championships on a number of occasions. We like to think we have an excellent pathway for young golfers to build their skills and enjoy the sport.
Junior Golf Academy
Juniors can join the Academy while working towards their first handicap. While they are an academy member, our coaching team will keep an eye on their progress and tell them when and how to hand in cards etc.
Junior Academy membership is just £40 for the year. For this you get:
- 1 hour free coaching session every Sunday between 3pm-4pm
- Access to the practice putting green and chipping green.
- Play a few holes on the golf course under adult supervision, during off-peak times.
Academy members can play in Academy competitions: scheduled at weekends and during half terms and school holidays. These may be a 9 hole texas scramble or flags competition designed to give practice on the Course.
Junior Golf Membership
When a Junior has an official handicap, they can join as a junior member. Junior members can play on the Course, play in monthly Junior medals and, if their handicap is low enough, senior competitions as well. A junior has been club champion more than once! Junior members can also play in Academy competitions.
Junior Medals are played once a month at the weekend after the Senior competitions, often on a Saturday.

During the summer months we will have a roll up for juniors, once a week. This won’t be supervised by staff here but Junior players can just come along and play.
Full 7 day junior membership at Forest Hills is just £100 per year for Juniors up to the age of 18 years old.
All Junior members, including Academy, can join the Forest Hills Juniors Facebook page, where news will be posted. It is a closed group which accepts only junior members and their parents.
